On Sunday, we went to the farmers market up in Ballard and had lunch. Then on Monday, we went swimming at the YMCA. The weather was terrible so no bbq or playing outside for us! Boo!!
There was a very big minus tide and it was around 8:30am so we got up early Saturday morning and got stuff ready to go. We drove to Salt creek which is just past Port Angeles (Breanna was not very happy about how long the car ride was). We got out and looked at the tide pools. Breanna held a small crab in her hand and watched a dog play in the water. She had her rain boots on and splashed in the puddles. Then we drove to the Olympic Game farm. Brea loved sitting in the front seat and watching the animals. She even threw out some of the bread to feed the animals. It was funny because she was playing with buttons on the door when a yak came up and stuck his head halfway in the car. She didn’t notice at first and when we finally got her attention she looked up and jumped when she saw the yak. After the game farm, we went to Sequim and walked around, there was a farmers market going on and we went in to some of the stores.
Scott took Friday off so that he could have a 4 day weekend with us. On Friday we drove down to Olympia and went to the Children’s museum. It was a blast! So many things to see and do for all ages. We were there for about 2 hours and could’ve spent at least twice that. They have an area upstairs that’s intended more for smaller kids. There is a slide, play dough, magnets, Legos, and a bin with uncooked split peas with cups, bowls, spoons, and shovels to play with the peas. This was Breanna’s favorite part.
This activity came from one of my mom friends on facebook. It’s a sensory play activity called scoop & dump and I already had everything on hand which was fantastic! I grabbed a kitchen bowl, scoop, muffin pan and a bag of macaroni. Brea grabbed a couple of her pots from her kitchen set and I poured the macaroni into the bowl. I showed her to use scoop up the macaroni and dump it in the muffin tin. Because the muffin tin is metal it makes noise when the macaroni hits it. She also uses her pots from her kitchen to scoop up the macaroni and the scooper to stir the macaroni in the bowl. This has been one of her favorite activities. The first time we played, it kept her busy from almost 20 mins. I have kept everything together and put it on top of a bookcase. She knows I put it there and points to it at least a couple times a day.
Hi! My name is Sharine and I am mother to Makayla (16) and Breanna (18 months). My husband (Scott) and I were married in December 2010 and we live in Tacoma, WA. As of right now, I am a stay at home mom. I graduated nursing school in August, 2012 and had to pass the State Boards to get my RN license which I did in February, 2013. I am currently looking for a residency nurse position in one of the local hospitals but for the time being I enjoy my days playing, learning, and laughing with Breanna. I love crafting, although I am a beginner at most things. I have made multiple scrapbooks documenting Brea’s life so far. I also enjoy sewing (I have made one dress so far for Brea and I am working on making a busy book for her with felt pages and buckles, zippers, beads, and Velcro). I like to crochet, again I am just a beginner, but I made a pumpkin hat for Brea since she was due on Halloween. I also like to go to the beach and go camping.
